eReports Upgrade Scheduled for May 19th [3/24/08]
The message below was sent directly to eReports end users to provide advance notice about the forthcoming upgrade. Additional information will be continually added to NewsLink closer to the actual upgrade date.
Dear eReports Users:
eReports is scheduled to be upgraded on Monday, May 19th. Vendor support for the current version of eReports will end in September 2008 and this upgrade is required to move eReports to a version supported by the vendor.
From a user perspective, the upgraded eReports will have a different look and feel that is very similar to Windows Explorer. This will change the way users navigate and display report content especially versioned static content and SQR job output. The process for running parameterized SQR reports and Insight reports will be similar to the current version.
To assist users in the transition to the new version, the following resources will be available:
- A playground environment will be available to allow users to test drive the new system. The playground will be available to users from Monday, April 14th until Friday, May 16th.
- An eReports upgrade job aid has been developed to assist users that are familiar with the current version. The job aid will be available on April 14th to coincide with the rollout of the playground. This job aid will guide users on how to navigate the new version and complete the most popular reporting tasks.
- Two user awareness sessions will be held on Friday, April 25th to demonstrate the upgraded system and answer questions from users. Each session will be held in 131 Hitchcock Hall with the first session being held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the second session being held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Finally, as with previous upgrades, the Insight Plug-in must be upgraded to work with the new version of eReports. The plug-in installation process will allow users to access both the current and new versions of eReports simultaneously. Instructions on how to install the new plug-in will be distributed to departmental computer support staff on March 31st so that they will be able to assist users with this installation effort. Users who have administrative access to update software on their own PCs will be able to use the same instructions which will be posted on http://oit.osu.edu/hrfin/techsupport.html.
Additional information about the upgrade will be communicated as the upgrade progresses. Please contact Gary Rine via e-mail if you have any questions.
