Recent Email to Students with Past Due Balances and Late Fees [10/05/09]
The content of the message below was sent to HRPs on September 30th. It is being posted in NewsLink as a reminder with additional date information and answers to FAQs.
An email was recently sent from the Office of the University Bursar to students with past due balances about late fees. Although they may have received the message, it does not apply to Graduate Associates, Fellows, and Trainees who have past due balances for other student fees.
No late fees were assessed these students. They will be enrolled in payment plans within the next two weeks.
- Late Hire and Late Fees: If a Graduate Associate, Fellow, or Trainee is hired after classes begin, a late fee will likely have been assessed to the student’s account. A system process will identify these students and the Graduate School will review to confirm the late fees should be removed. Student should allow 3 business days after the graduate fee authorization appears on their account for the waiver of any late fees.
- Key Dates for October:
- October 6: Record all hires or Graduate Associates, Trainees and Fellows by 5:00 p.m. on October 6 so they will be counted in the OSU Enrollment Census.
- October 8: Record all hires for Graduate Associates, Trainees and Fellows by 5:00 p.m. on October 8 so that they are not dropped for nonpayment of tuition/instructional fees on October 9.
- Additional Information:
- GFA page access: The GFA page is now open for students with an October 1 (or earlier) Effective Date of Hire. The deadline for recording the GFA funding entry is November 4
- Payment plan enrollment: GFA-eligible employees will be enrolled in a payment plan within the next two weeks. For those students who paid the balance of their account in full, they will not be enrolled in a payment plan. For additional information about the new payment, please consult the FAQs.
- Enrollment hours: Keep in mind that, in addition to hiring the student, Graduate Associates, Fellows and Trainees must be enrolled in a specific number of hours to be GFA-eligible. For more information on enrollment hour requirements, see the Graduate School Handbook at http://www.gradsch.ohio-state.edu/Depo/PDF/Handbook.pdf.
We apologize for any confusion and appreciate your patience.
