Scheduled Network Outages
Enterprise Networking is responsible for the campus backbone network of the University, which supports the Columbus and regional campuses.
We consult with university departments on design, configuration and administration of wired and wireless networks.
Some of the current services that we offer to the university are: Domain Name Servers (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), wireless design and support, and Wide Area Network (WAN) design.
Weekly standard network maintenance schedule, established September, 2001: The Office of Information Technology has standardized the maintenance schedule for the campus network to a three-hour time period on Sunday mornings between 12:01 a.m. and 3 a.m. We will notify the campus when interruptions are scheduled through our usual distribution methods. Depending on the work that needs to be done, different portions of the campus network and/or services such as e-mail, Web access, ftp, telnet and network authentication may be unavailable during this period in any given week. We will not use this window of opportunity every week; however, we caution university departments and colleges not to schedule any routine mission critical operations that rely on the network or related services during this time period.
