The Office of Information Technology (OIT) offers the following Windows site licensed software and public domain programs to members of The Ohio State University community. Please refer to Site Licensed Software Program for more information about how to obtain the software or to the Site Licensed Software Policy for general policy guidelines and an explanation of certain restrictions that may apply to usage on regional campuses.
NOTE: There is a Listserve email distribution list called SLICNEWS. This Listserve list is for announcements of all new OIT Site Licensed and volume purchase product releases and new products and for inquiries. You can also view recent product announcements from the site license Software Directory main page. Both services provide you with information; however, the SLICNEWS Listserve provides you with notices in your email with no further action on your part.

Adobe Reader (current version):
System Requirements:
- PC with Pentium or higher processor.
- Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 or later/XP.
- 128 MB RAM, 90 MB hard disk space.
Adobe Reader allows you to view and print Portable Document Format (PDF) files with the original graphics and layout intact. It is available to faculty, staff and students for use on campus and on home computers. This version now also includes Document Rights which provides features when you open a PDF document with additional usage rights. These features include Save Document, Advanced Form features, Comments, and Digital Signatures. This is available electronically. To download a copy click on Software Downloads.
Adobe Contract License Program:
Ohio State University has entered into a Contract License Program (CLP) with Adobe. This contract provides for discounts up to 65% off of educational boxed product. An ordering procedure for departmental use is available on Software Downloads. Look under any platform for "How to Order Adobe Products". Personal use for faculty, staff, and students may be obtained at WiredOut, also at significant discount.
Aegis Client (version 2.1.4) Windows PPC2002 &2003:
System Requirements:
- Pocket PC.
- Version 2.1.4: Pocket PC 2002/2003 with ActiveSync 3.0.

AEGIS Client is an implementation of the client side of the IEEE 802.1X - Port Based Network Access Control protocol. 802.1X access control provides improved security for both wired and wireless networks. This license is available through OIT Telecommunications and Networking. Telecommunications and Networking, through OSUWeb.net wireless, is deploying wireless computer access on the OSU campus. ArcGIS (current version) Windows 2000/XP:

This is a geographic information system (GIS) product from Environmental Systems Research Institute. ArcGIS offers advanced modeling, mapping and analysis capabilities for the desktop. ArcGIS Desktop runs on Windows 2000/XP platforms. ArcGIS incorporates the capabilities of Arc/View and Arc/Info and replaces those products. The license is administered by the Center for Mapping. The ArcGIS Windows version is available by download and you can arrange for CD media. For more information about this package please follow the ESRI link.

ArcIMS provides the foundation for distributing high-end geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping services via the Internet. ArcIMS software enables users to integrate local data sources with Internet data sources for display, query, and analysis in an easy-to-use Web browser. ArcPad (current version) Windows:

ESRI's ArcPad software is mobile mapping and geographic information system (GIS) technology. ArcPad provides database access, mapping, GIS, and global positioning system (GPS) integration to users out in the field via handheld and mobile devices. Data collection with ArcPad is fast, easy, and significantly improved with immediate data validation and availability. The license is administered by the Center for Mapping. ArcSDE (current version) Windows 2000/XP:

ArcSDE is a gateway that facilitates managing spatial data in database management systems. ArcSDE allows you to manage geographic information in one of the four commercial databases: IBM DB2, IBM Informix, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle, as well as being able to serve ESRI's file-based data with ArcSDE for Coverages. This software is available to faculty and staff for use on main and regional campuses (including on campus labs). Home use is not allowed. It may be used solely for the purposes of educational instruction, administration, or facilities management and not for any commercial or for profit purposes at OSU. When you are no longer affiliated with OSU you must return the software to your department or OIT. Software is purchased at the IT Service Desk, 025 Central Classrooms, with a 100-W. You can purchase an annual subscription to use the AutoDesk software for $90. The subscription year expires on August 31 of each year. BadCopy Pro (version 4.10) Windows 98/2000/XP/Vista:

BadCopy Pro is a data recovery tool for floppy disk, CD-ROM, CD-R/W, digital media and other storage media, including hard drives. It can recover corrupted or lost data from damaged, unreadable or defective disks. Available to faculty and staff for on-campus machines only. No home use is allowed. Cisco VPN Client (version 5.0.01) Windows 2000/XP/Vista:

OSUnet VPN service is designed as a solution for faculty, staff and students to be able to have remote usage to the OSUnet network that is authenticated and secure. This authentication is accomplished by a "client" VPN program which communicates with a server located at OSU. Available to faculty, staff and students at main and regional campuses and on your home computer. It is for university-related business only and must be left with your department and removed from your home computer when you leave OSU. This is distributed electronically only. Core FTP Lite (2.1): Windows 2000/XP:
System Requirements:
- PC or compatible.
- Windows 2000/XP (SP 1).
- 64 MB RAM, 4 MB free disk space.
Core FTP Lite is an FTP client program. It provides a reliable way to maintain web pages and perform file transfers on the Internet. It supports secure file transfer via the SFTP protocol, an FTP protocol that runs on top of the SSH (Secure SHell) protocol, and also, FTP running on Secure Sockets Layer. Available to faculty, staff and students for main and regional campus use and home use. This is a free client; however, this copy is licensed and registered to OSU. Eudora Pro (version 7.1) Windows 98/2000/XP:
System Requirements:
- PC or compatible.
- Windows 98, 2000/XP.
- 64 MB RAM, 32 MB free disk space.
This is the full commercial version of Eudora, a popular client/server email package. This version now supports anti-Spam and fast indexed search with the X1 (c) search engine. It also features ScamWatch for detecting "phishing" schemes. It is licensed for use on the main and regional campuses. It is available to faculty, staff, and students. Use this only on OSU-owned equipment or on your home computer. It is for university-related business only and must be left with your department and removed from your home computer when you leave OSU. Gaussian (2003, Rev. E.01) Win 2000/XP:
System Requirements:
- Win XP/Vista.
- Pentium III or better, or equivalent PC.
- 256 MB RAM, 600 MB hard disk space.
Gaussian is a program for computational chemistry. It uses electronic structure modeling to investigate chemical phenomena. It is available to faculty, staff and for classroom use. Home use is not allowed. It is available only for main campus. The right-to-use license is no charge. Faculty and staff will sign an End User Agreement which also contains a Confidentiality Agreement, which OIT will forward to Gaussian, Inc. IT support staff are able to deploy copies to student labs but are not authorized to make distribution to any other faculty/staff. Each faculty/staff user must obtain their own copy from OIT after signing their own agreement. Students in labs are authorized to use the software only for projects and assignments for courses in which they are currently enrolled. Each student must sign a departmental computing policies form to use the software. The media may be obtained at the IT Service Desk (025 Central Classrooms). Software is distributed at the IT Service Desk. CDROM only.
GaussView (version 4.1) Win XP/Vista:
System Requirements:
- Win XP/Vista.
- Pentium PC at 300 MHz or better, or equivalent PC.
- 256 MB RAM, 300 MB hard disk space.
GaussView is a program for computational chemistry. It provides a full-featured graphical user interface for Gaussian 03W for Windows. It is available to faculty, staff and for classroom use. Ghost Solution Suite (version 2.5) Windows 2000/XP/Vista; 2000/2003 Server
System Requirements:
- Client: 133 MHz Pentium PC; Console: 400 MHz Pentium; Server: Pentium III or higher.
- Client: 32 MB RAM, available disk space equal to twice the size of the largest file to be migrated on the C: drive when restoring a package, MS IE 5.01 or higher.
- Console: 64 MB RAM, VGA or better monitor, MS IE 5.01 or higher, Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 or higher for Symantec Client Migration Component.
- Server: 512 MB RAM, 10/100 MBPS NIC, disk space required depends on the number of planed client migrations and average package size, SQL 7.0 or Microsoft SQL Server 2000, IIS 5.0 or higher for the Client Migration component.
- Symantec Ghost Server and Console: Windows Vista Business/Enterprise/Ultimate, Windows 2000 Professional/Server SP3, Windows Server 2003 Standard/Enterprise SP1, Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard/Enterprise, Windows XP Professional SP2.
- Symantec Ghost Console Client: 64/32-bit Windows OS including Vista(Business/Enterprise/Ultimate), Windows XP, Windows 2000 Professional (excluding support for 64-bit Itanium processors)
Ghost Solution Suite is a disk utility program for disk imaging and deployment. The Suite includes Ghost, Symantec User Migration and Symantec DeployCenter. Available to faculty and staff for use on main and regional campuses. Home use is not allowed by the license. The software may be purchased for $4.50 per copy with a 100-W at the IT Service Desk, 025 Central Classrooms. A copy must be purchased for each device (including Virtual Devices) on which you intend to use the software. See the End User Agreement on the distribution media. Software is distributed on CD-ROM. You may obtained the media at the IT Service desk. CD-ROM only.

JMP (version 8) Windows XP/Vista:
System Requirements:
- Pentium 4 PC or higher.
- Windows XP (SP2), Vista (Home Basic Edition not supported).
- 512 MB of RAM, 130 MB free disk space.
- True (24 bit+) color with resolution at 1024 X 768 or greater.
JMP is an interactive software tool designed for statistical visualization and exploratory data analysis. This is available to faculty, staff and students located on main campus only. It can be used for classroom instruction, academic research and course work only. Home use is allowed for a holder of the license on campus. The right-to-use license is no charge. The media may be obtained at the IT Service Desk (025 Central Classrooms). Software is distributed at the IT Service Desk. CDROM only.

NOTE: There is an updater to version 7.0 which takes JMP to version 7.01. This contains many software fixes. It can be downloaded from OSU Software Downloads.
Maple (version 13): Windows 2000/XP/Vista:
System Requirements:
- PC with a Pentium 650 MHz or higher processor.
- 512 MB RAM for Win 2000/XP/Vista; 512 MB RAM for Windows 2000/3 server, 650 MB of free hard disk space.
- Graphics adapter capable of 1024 x 768 resolution or better.
A powerful and comprehensive interactive symbolic algebra system used for engineering and mathematical instruction and research. Available to faculty and staff for use on campus or in their homes for university-related business. Available to students who are employed as a teaching or research assistant/associate for use on computers on campus only for university-related business. Software must be returned when leaving OSU. This program comes in a desktop version and a server version. The server version may be used to run Maple in a LAN environment. Maple contains extensive Help documentation after installation. Software is available at the IT Service Desk, 025 Central Classrooms.
- Faculty/staff users can view and print the Maple License Agreement, fill it out and bring it to the IT Service Desk to obtain the software.
Additionally, you can access the Maple Application Center. This site offers a free online resource of technical solutions submitted by Maple users from around the world. When you link to this site, you also have access to the Maple Student Center for course help, Maple Power Tools which are add-on packages and The Maple Reporter which is published semiannually and covers new developments at Waterloo Maple, Inc.
MATLAB 2009b (version 7.9) Windows XP/Vista/2003 Server:
System Requirements:
- PC with a Pentium 4 or higher processor; Intel Xeon/Core/Celeron, or AMD Athlon/Opteron/Sempron processor; AMD 64 processors.
- Windows XP (SP2 or SP3)/Vista SP1; XP 64 bit (SP2)/Vista SP1; Windows Server 2008 (SP2, or R2); Windows Server 2008.
- 512 MB of RAM, 512 MB of swap space, 625 MB of hard disk space (MATLAB only with Help).
- Access to the C++ and FORTRAN compilers if building your own MEX files.

MATLAB is a part of Mathworks R2009b and is an interactive environment for numeric computation that specializes in working with matrices. It combines a powerful user interface with 2-D and 3-D graphics and a comprehensive library of mathematical analysis techniques. This product comes in two versions:

Available to faculty and academic staff for teaching and research on OSU owned or controlled computers and campus computer labs. It is also available to faculty, academic staff and students for use on personally owned computers. Student use is limited to use in meeting classroom requirements and courses of study offered by OSU. Commercial use is prohibited. Additional toolboxes may be ordered. Please contact Angelo D'Amato of The Mathworks at (508)647-7516, (angelo.damato@mathworks.com) to inquire about quotations and orders for additional toolboxes. In this case The Mathworks will generate any additional license codes for add-on toolboxes (Child Licenses) for you to combine during installation with your Standard Configuration license codes. Media is obtained at the IT Service Desk in 025 Central Classrooms, and student media is available for download at the Software Downloads site.

The MATLAB TAH Install Guide provides details on how to install additional toolbox licenses NOT in the OSU Standard Configuration along with the TAH license for the Standard OSU license configuration. If you are purchasing additional toolboxes not in the Standard OSU configuration, you may want to read this guide.
Mathematica Faculty/Staff Version (version 7.01):
System Requirements:
- Windows 2000/XP/Vista
- PC with a Pentium 3 processor or equivalent.
- 512 MB of RAM, 3 GB of hard disk space.
This is a technical computing system used by science, industry and academia. It combines high-precision numeric and symbolic computation with data visualization and programming capabilities. This license was obtained by the College of Math and Physical Sciences. This version is licensed to currently employed faculty and staff. This software may be used on OSU-owned machines or personal machines in support of instruction of academic research. Research laboratories are not eligible unless their primary mission is the direct teaching of students. The software is licensed annually at no charge, currently. McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (version 4.0):

- NTFS (NT file system) partition.
- If over 250 nodes, recommend a dedicated server.

ePolicy Orchestrator agent for Windows:

The ePolicy Orchestrator product provides centralized anti-virus policy management and enforcement, software deployment, and reporting capabilities to ensure virus protection. Administrators can manage policies and deploy the McAfee VirusScan product for the desktop and the McAfee NetShield product for their file servers. ePolicy Orchestrator includes support for:
- McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i with McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.5.
- McAfee VirusScan for Mac 8.5, 8.6.
- McAfee ePO agent 3.5.5, 3.6, 3.7.
- McAfee GroupShield Domino 7.0.
- McAfee Virex 7.7.
- McAfee GroupShield Exchange 6.0.2, 6.0.3 (with SpamKiller).
- McAfee GroupShield Exchange 7.0.
- McAfee LinuxShield 1.3, 1.4, 1.5.

This is primarily intended for use by computer support staff managing antivirus support in their college/dept. It is distributed electronically from McAfee download pages. McAfee Active Virus Defense:
McAfee Active Virus Defense is a collection of antivirus tools licensed by OIT. It includes the following components: VirusScan, Netshield, Virex, GroupShield and WebShield, among others. VirusScan, Netshield and Virex are discussed in other entries on these web pages. GroupShield and WebShield are more specialized tools that are likely to be used by LAN administrators and are discussed collectively here.
GroupShield version 7.0 for Exchange Server 2003/2007:
System Requirements:
- Pentium 133 MHz minimum (Exchange Server 2003 only).
- Intel x64 based processor that supports Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology.
- AMD x64 based processor with AMD 64-bit technology.
- 512 MB RAM, 740 MB available hard disk space.
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server, with Service Pack 4 or above.
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition.
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise Server R2
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition.
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 with SP 2 or above.
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
- Internet Explorer 6, Netscape Navigator 9.0 or Mozilla 2.0 or above.
GroupShield is an anti-virus tool for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2007. GroupShield Exchange installs into your existing Microsoft Exchange software. Once installed, GroupShield protects your Exchange network by:
- Continuously monitoring your Exchange server and protecting it from viruses and software threats that may be introduced via e-mail. GroupShield works in real time to detect and disable viruses as they attempt to enter or move through the system.
- Helping you maintain a virus-free environment by scanning mailboxes on your Exchange server. GroupShield can intercept, clean, and log an infected file attachment before it spreads.
GroupShield version 7.0 for Lotus Domino on Windows:
System Requirements:
- Running Lotus Domino Ver. 6.0.2 and later or Lotus Domino 7.0.2.
- 512 MB minimum (twice physical RAM for paging space).
- 1 GB per partition.
- Windows 2000 Standard or Advanced, or Windows 2003 Standard or Enterprise server.
GroupShield 7.0 is an anti-virus tool for Lotus Domino servers. GroupShield continuously monitors your Lotus Domino network and protects it from potential viruses and software threats that may be introduced via email messages or Lotus Notes documents. GroupShield works in real time to detect and disable viruses as they attempt to enter or move through the system. Further features include:
- GroupShield helps you maintain a virus-free environment by letting you perform active scans of your Lotus Domino network.
- The GroupShield Quarantine Area is a Lotus Notes database that acts as a repository for all detected viruses.
WebShield SMTP (4.5, Maintenance Release 2) Win 2000/2003 Server:
System Requirements:
- Service Pack 1 or later.
- Pentium or compatible processor at 200 MHz or higher.
- 9 MB hard disk space, 128 MB RAM.
- 950 MB minimum hard disk space for high message throughput.
WebShield SMTP is designed to scan all inbound and outbound E-mail traffic passing through an SMTP E-mail gateway. The scanning process works transparently to end users in the network. Once a virus is detected, WebShield can automatically clean or quarantine a file then send alerts to system administrators. WebShield SMTP also provides content filtering to stop virus hoaxes. A complete history log acts as an audit trail for tracking down the virus origin.
This is a right-to-use license and software must be left with your department when you leave OSU. You can obtain the above products via a limited-access FTP site maintained by McAfee at:

A statistical analysis software package available to faculty and regular staff for use on campus and in student labs, on OSU owned machines for university-related business only. This is a right-to-use copy only that must be returned to OIT or left with your department when you leave OSU. Please note that MINITAB no longer uses an authorization code in release 15. It uses a concurrent licensing model and clients "check out" licenses from a license server. Instructions on setting up your copy to access the license server are contained in the install tip sheet when you get your copy of the software. Also note that Release 14 of Minitab will not be issued a new Authorization code beyond August 31, 2007 and so will be unusable after that date. NetShield (version 4.6.3) Netware Server:

- Netware: Computer with Netware 5.1 Support Pack 7 or greater, 6.0 Support Pack 4, 6.5 Support Pack 2 and Novell Open Enterprise Server for NetWare (Gold Release (Build 303)) and current Netware patches ; Client: Pentium PC.
- Netware Client: Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP Pro, TCP/IP or SPX protocol support, NetWare Directory Services (NDS), Novell Client 32, 3 MB (server) and 6 MB (client) hard disk space.
This is a client-server package for detecting computer viruses. It allows you to scan your hard drives and diskettes to find viruses. It detects and removes viruses and where possible, repairs files that have been modified by a virus. It runs on Netware server only. It is available to faculty, staff and students. It may be used on main and regional campuses and on home computers. It is a right-to-use license and software must be returned to your department or to OIT and deleted from your computer when you leave OSU.

NVivo (version 8.0) Windows 2000/XP/Vista:
System Requirements:
- PC at 1.2 GHz or better.

- Monitor with at least 1280 x 1024 resolution.
NVivo is a package used in Qualitative Data Analysis. This tool allows fine-detail analysis, fluid exploration and interpretation, integrating the processes of interpretation and questioning. NVivio has many ways of recording the links between data and ideas that go beyond coding. NVivo 8 can open projects previously done with N4, N5, N6, NVivo 2, and NVivo7. This is available to faculty and staff on the main and regional campuses and in student labs. Home use is allowed for OSU business purposes only. It is available to you while you are affiliated with OSU and must be left with your department and deleted from your home computer when you leave OSU. Software is purchased at the IT Service Desk, 025 Central Classrooms, with a 100-W only. The cost is $28 for license and media. Existing users may upgrade to this version per the above pricing, since this version contains a new subscription license code through July of 2010. There is no free upgrade for Version 8. Existing users must also renew before July 1 of each year to continue to receive current license codes. Media is CDROM.

This is available to faculty, staff and students on main and regional campuses for administrative, teaching, research, or community service functions. Commercial use is prohibited. It may not be used on your home computer or for personal use. It is not available for use in the OSU Medical Center for non-medical functions such as patient management and billing. It is available to you while you are affiliated with OSU and must be left with your department or OIT when you leave OSU. You will order software CDs directly from an Oracle MetaLink web site. For authorization to access this site to order CDs you will need OSU's Oracle Customer Support Identifier (CSI). A file containing this number and additional instructions, the Oracle CSI file, can be downloaded from OSU Software Downloads.
PASW Statistics (version 18.0.1; formerly SPSS)/Amos 18 Windows XP/Vista:
System Requirements:
- PC with Pentium class processor at 1GHz or higher.
- Windows XP (32-bit)/Windows Vista (32 or 64-bit)/Windows 7.
- 1 GB RAM, 800 MB of free hard disk space, graphics adapter with 800 x 600 or higher resolution. Amos requires 125 MB of hard disk space.
A comprehensive statistical analysis package. Available to faculty and staff for use on the main and regional campuses and at home for university-related business. Available to students for use on their personally-owned computer. SPSS Windows for faculty/staff and for campus lab use includes the Statistics Base, Regression, Advanced Statistics, Categories, Conjoint, Exact Tests, Custom Tables, Tables Original, Forecasting, Trends Original, Missing Value Analysis. The media now also includes Amos (Analysis of MOment Structures) which implements the general approach to data analysis known as structural equation modeling. PASW for student home/laptop use includes PASW Statistics, Regression, Advanced Statistics, Custom Tables, Tables Original. The software license code must be renewed on an annual basis. The IT Service Desk will provide license codes. Software must be returned to OIT or left with your department when you leave OSU.
The software is available via electronic download. However, unless you are an existing PASW license holder with OIT, you will need to fill out an end user agreement to obtain an Authorization code to enable the software to run. Amos requires a separate Authorization Codes and is only available to faculty and staff or student lab use; additionally, AMOS is now available via the OSU SLS download, due to a change in packaging. You can obtain the license codes in a couple of ways:
- Come to the IT Service Desk, 025 Central Classrooms, and fill out the end user agreement. Obtain the Authorization code and download the software. Please bring a valid university ID.
- Faculty/staff PASW users can view and print the PASW License Agreement, fill it out and bring it to the IT Service Desk to obtain the code. Students can print the corresponding PASW Student License Agreement and fill it out as above. All students must fill out a new license agreement because student license terms have changed. Read and Write (version 7.1.2) Windows 98 SE/2000/XP:

Read and Write is a support program to help people with reading and writing difficulties when using their computer. It can use a sound card to read aloud and help you construct words using word prediction. This software was obtained by the Office for Disability Services and is distributed by OIT at their request. Available to faculty and staff and for computer labs for student use. It may be used on main campus only or on a OSU-owned laptop for OSU travel. No home use is allowed. This software is available via CDROM only.

RefWorks (current release):

- PC running Internet Explorer 5.0 or later; Netscape 6.0 or later.

- Write-N-Cite requires: Word 2000 or later, Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, Windows 98/2000/XP.
RefWorks is a Web-based bibliography and database manager that allows users to create their own personal database by importing references from text files or online databases. They can use these references in writing their papers and automatically format the paper and the bibliography. RefWorks is a web-based application and hence is available to users on Windows, Macintosh and Unix, etc. No downloading or installation is needed since you use your web browser to access this application from a server. Write-n-Cite is a feature which allows you to access your references in RefWorks while working within Microsoft Word. RefWorks has been acquired through the efforts of The Ohio State University Libraries in conjunction with other OhioLink member schools. OIT site licensing provides some cost sharing in support of this campuswide license. This application is available to faculty, staff and students on the main and regional campuses. You must state your intended use. SAS Windows Server is available on a per-processor basis. A CPU processor is a single integrated circuit on the motherboard with one or more cores. So, a dual core CPU counts as one CPU. The license subscription cost per CPU-processor is $317. This software is renewable annually each August for a fee. SigmaPlot is a technical graphing program. It is specifically designed to aid in documenting and publishing research, specializing in the graphical presentation of data. This is available to faculty and staff. It may be used on OSU and personally owned PCs for research, education and OSU administrative use. It is available to the main and regional campuses. This is a right-to-use license that must be returned when you leave OSU. New users must purchase an annual subscription for use at the IT Service Desk (025 Central Classrooms) for $21 (includes license and CD) with a 100-W. The fee for a license only is $16. The annual subscription runs from November 1 to November 1. If you have purchased SigmaPlot since September 1 of the year you will be covered for the year. Each copy for new users requires the fee. Existing SigmaPlot site-license users may purchase an update CD for $5 with a 100-W. However, to continue use beyond November of each year you must renew your subscription to obtain updated license codes. On CD only.

STATA is an environment for manipulating and analyzing data using statistical and graphical methods. It is an integrated package, not a collection of separate modules. This is available as part of the StataCorp Grad Plan. Available to faculty, staff, and students on main and regional campuses and on home computers. If you purchase with your own funds you own the software license. Licenses purchased with OSU funds remain with OSU. To purchase, call 800-782-8272 or go to the StataCorp site. Once you have ordered the software, your order should normally be available for pickup at the IT Service Desk in 025 Central Classrooms the next business day (notification is sent via e-mail when the software is available for pickup). A comprehensive statistical analysis package that includes graphics and data management. Provides a point-and-click statistical analysis through a series of icons and pull-down menus; the ability to open multiple windows on the desktop to be able to view data, results, and graphics at the same time; and a large array of scientific and technical graphs. Available to faculty, staff and students for use on computers on campus or at home for university-related business. Software must be returned and deleted from your home PC when you leave OSU.
The software is available via electronic download. However, if you are a new user you will need to fill out an end user agreement and obtain a license file to enable the software to run. You can do this in a couple of ways:
- Come to the IT Service Desk, 025 Central Classrooms, and fill out the end user agreement and the license file will be sent via email. Please bring a valid university ID.
- Go to the Software Downloads web site and to the Windows/SPSS entry and download the end user agreement. Fill it out and bring it to the IT Service Desk to obtain the license file. Please bring a valid university ID.

NOTE: This program is large. You should not attempt to download using a modem unless you are prepared to wait up to 20 hours. TurningPoint 2008 (version 4.0.0) Windows 2000/XP

- Ethernet or 802.11 compatible wireless network card.
- Office 2000, XP or 2003.
TurningPoint 2008 is software that OSU instructors and staff can use to add interactive polling/quizzing slides to a PowerPoint presentation. They can make a request to have OIT Classroom Services install the software in a Classroom Pool room's lectern computer (and the required USB antenna) by sending an e-mail to clickers@osu.edu. The download comes with a limited license code that allows these copies to work with up to 5 clickers for testing. Also, bundled with the Windows version is TurningPoint AnyWhere. TurningPoint AnyWhere is an audience response system that allows presenters to poll an audience from any PC application and immediately display the results. This allows for instantaneous feedback for the presenter and helps keep the audience engaged by displaying their input. This is a workstation and server program for detecting and removing computer viruses. It allows you to scan your hard drives, memory and diskettes to find viruses and repair infected files. This license was obtained by OIT. Available to faculty, staff and students for main and regional campus use and home use. This is a right-to-use license and software must be returned to your department or OIT and deleted from your computer when you leave OSU. This version provides for AutoUpdate of DAT files and is packaged with an AutoUpdate schedule preconfigured into it so you do not have to perform this configuration. The McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise Module adds on to the VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i product. The module provides additional sets of anti-spyware access protection rules as well as the ability to examine cookies in the cookies folder, the registry, and files running in memory. VirusScan Enterprise uses its technology and these features to provide additional protection against adware, spyware, and other unwanted programs. This license was obtained by OIT. VirusScan DAT File:
DAT files contain up-to-date virus signatures and other information that Network Associates anti-virus products use to protect your computer against the thousands of computer viruses in circulation. New .DAT files are released regularly to provide protection against the 100 to 300 new viruses that are discovered each month. These are available electronically only. Through an agreement with OARNet, VMWare is now available at substantial discounts from market cost. Once reviewed by an OARnet Client Service Representative, your order will be forwarded to VMware representatives, who then will provide you with download instructions and a product key. WinZip (version 12 Pro) Windows 2000/XP/Vista:

- Win 2000/XP/Vista.
- 16 MB RAM.
This is an archive utility. It allows an intuitive point-and-click, drag-and-drop interface for viewing, running, extracting, adding, deleting and testing files in archives with a standard Windows interface. It has support for TAR, gzip, Unix compress, UUencode, BinHex and MIME formats as well as zip format. Available to faculty and staff for main and regional campus use and home computer use. This is a right-to-use license for use while you are affiliated with OSU. Should you leave OSU you must return the software to your department or OIT and delete it from your computer. You may purchase the license at the IT Service Desk (025 Central Classrooms) for $7 only with a 100-W. Software is distributed at the IT Service Desk. Existing users: Upon verification of your status as a OIT license holder for WinZip, you may obtain the upgrade CD-R from the IT Service Desk. Department computer support persons may purchase multiple copies of the license for their department in one transaction; however, they must insure that users receiving a copy fill out the end user agreement and return it to OIT. One copy of the media will be distributed per purchase. CD only.
The WinZip End User License Agreement must be signed by each user obtaining a copy of WinZip. To facilitate this process, you can click on the link above and display the license as a .PDF file which you can print, fill out and bring to the IT Service Desk.
X-Win32 (version 9.4) Windows 2000/XP/Vista/2003:

X-Win32 is a X Windows server which runs on the PC platform. X Windows provides for a Graphical User Interface for Unix systems. X-Win32 also integrates support for OpenGL-based X Windows applications. It also provides an integrated SSH connection to Unix systems and a new "LIVE" session mode which allows for suspending and resuming sessions. Available to faculty, staff and students on the main and regional campuses and on your home computer. This software is for use only for university-related business.
